Howdy everybody!

I want to start off by saying that if you don’t want to get emails from me, pretty please write me an email saying that.

I know I have been quiet for a hot minute.  Lots of things going on my side of the screen has been waving about a laser pointer around me so I have been too distracted to write the email.

things like “I’m not a charity yet” or “what do you mean https://aki-ban.org/ crashed?” have not helped me… but more info about that later in this thing. Yay walls of text, I promise I’m trying to limit how much I’m writing.

Let’s talk about a few things that some of you care about.

Vendors still get to come in on friday to set up.

• AKIBAN is fully paid for and permits are done
  • unless I get a food vendor… they have until the end of this month to bug me so I can handle that.
• Vendors do not need a Lake Stevens business permit at AKIBAN.
  • If I accept them as a Vendor they are good during the event.
• there is no fee to be a vendor this year
  • due to the “i am not a charity yet” and also other things on my side of the screen 
  • i only ask that you have permission to sell things in WA state, and you have proof of that (like i can look you up on the valid vendors of the state list, ubi i think?)
    

• Vendor space is limited, even including a few tents (within rules) 
• SWAG & MERCH are planned
  • only stickers have been purchased
  • There is stuff left from last year.
• No official schedule this year 
  • Though I do try to plan to have something so people can make their own listing.

AKI-BAN.ORG crashed?

Yup, it was **refusing** to talk to wordpress.  I actually read all the php and other files, found the problem, but it refused to be fixed, even though i know i did the right code. 

So i deleted the page and created the splash page you see, that i have to keep correcting…

Thankfully, I had already moved some of the i want to keep important bits to Patreon… so its not all bad. My goal is to hire someone for very part time job before the end of the year to create and maintain the website.

I’m kinda waiting until I have reached charity status, or at least gotten permission to hire employees.  Right now I am pretty sure I don’t. With everything going on on my side of the screen, I don’t want any kind of problem with my business.

What’s this about becoming a charity?

I am also still working on becoming a charity because that is honestly what AKIBAN and all my events are about. Just giving to the community without really asking for anything in return. All the social events I hope to host build up the community and lower neighbor tensions, if you are gaming together then the only fighting you are doing is the “fun” kind, and in a safe environment. And while Lake Stevens and the surrounding area is already pretty safe, there are some hot topics that can cause some tensions between neighbors.

Sorry, giving back to the community who took me in and accepts me for who i am is super important to me. I also know that if I can achieve the “charity” status, then anybody who needs some kind of reward to do nice things for others can have a valid excuse.

At 6k just to rent the space and permits… I can only afford one event a year. because advertising, swag, merch and such ads are also super expensive, if worth it.

I want to do more, I have plans for more, but I need help to do that…
